Drilling Rig Winter Maintenance Tips in Construction
1. Choose the Appropriate Diesel Fuel
Firstly, in winter, it is necessary to switch to a suitable diesel fuel. Due to the lower temperature in winter, the viscosity of diesel is also relatively high, resulting in poor fluidity, poor atomization, and a decrease in the power and economic performance of the engine. In winter, diesel with a lower pour point should be selected, which is about 5 ℃ lower than the ambient temperature.

2. Winter Maintenance of Rotary Drilling Rig Cooling System
Under low temperature conditions, maintenance of the cooling system is necessary. In winter, antifreeze is usually added to the cooling system of rotary drilling rigs, and the proportion of antifreeze added to the cooling system should be the proportion at low temperatures. Special attention should be paid to the long replacement cycle of antifreeze, usually 1-2 years. In winter, it is necessary to check whether the antifreeze is normal and whether it needs to be replaced.
3. Engine Oil Replacement and Maintenance
The selection and replacement of engine oil also need to be noted. In winter, it is generally recommended to choose engine oil with a quality grade of C/D or above. In high-altitude areas, it is necessary to consider replacing the engine oil with a higher grade in winter. For example, 10W30 grade engine oil. In some severely cold areas, specialized antifreeze oil will also be used. Also, when changing the oil, don’t forget to replace and clean the oil filter.
4. Replacement and Maintenance of Rotary Drilling Rig Hydraulic Oil
When the temperature is low in winter, the viscosity of hydraulic oil is higher. When not preheated or the oil temperature is not high, the hydraulic system is prone to abnormal situations. Before starting the homework, it is recommended to idle for a period of time before running at high speed to prevent excessive viscosity from causing damage to the oil pump and pipelines.
5. Pay Attention to The Drilling Rig Machine Body Insulation
In cold climates, equipment is prone to excessive cooling during operation, and insulation is crucial. Low temperature can easily cause engine damage and reduce service life.
